Seventh Day

Our Monday -

We actually slept in a little and didn’t go to breakfast until around 7:15 AM- a record for us!  After breakfast we decided to beat the heat and go fishing.  Kate and I colored while Brennan fished for a little while.  He still hasn’t caught anything but just enjoys his time there now.  The fishing frenzy has ended… he’s always in a “frenzy” the first few days when he’s somewhere that he can fish.  Now he’s just relaxed, although I have my fingers crossed that he’ll catch something before we leave!

After fishing we dropped some laundry off to get cleaned and then headed back to our hotel.  Brennan and Kate ended up taking a two hour nap!  They were exhausted.  While they slept, I enjoyed a relaxing bubble bath and read my book.  It was VERY nice!

I think they would have slept even longer but the phone woke them up when our friends called to see if we wanted to go to the pool with them.  Brennan jumped out of bed and was ready for the pool in under a minute!  We stopped by the Deli for a little lunch first and then headed to the pool for a few hours.  Brennan played with Eli and Seth and Kate just loved being in the water the entire time!  She actually went under water once on accident and then once with me… she didn’t love being under water but was okay with it.  When she went under by accident we were sitting in the baby pool section and she just fell and was sitting on the bottom-  I think she would have just kept sitting there had I not plucked her out!  She knew to hold her breath though!  There were several other families at the pool with their newly adopted children, so we enjoyed talking to each other!  At the pool Kate kept yelling “Bennan” because she wanted Brennan to see her swimming.  She truly is learning that Brennan is an important part of our family.  He was a little too busy with his friends to notice, but did acknowledge her a few times. 

After swimming we went back to the room to play for a little bit.  Kate is learning how to play Memory (with fish cards of course).  We decided to take Kate to the Swan Room so she could play in there for awhile too.  She loves all the toys that make music.  Brennan took the DVD player and just watched a movie while Kate played.  We met several people but of course they are all leaving the next day.  J

Brennan was super tired from all his time running and swimming, so we decided to just grab dinner from the Deli and eat in our room.  Kate played and Brennan finished the movie he was watching.  Kate looked at pictures and kept yelling “yay” with her arms over her head.  She seems so happy to finally have a family!!!  She continues to love to have her hair styled and likes to pretend to cook and talk on the phone.  She also continues to organize and put things away.  There were Legos all over the room, and Kate picked them all up for Brennan!  I keep telling him there are good things about having  a sister- especially one that cleans up for him.  J  

Brennan and Kate are doing well- there is definitely sibling rivalry from both of them, but Kate is already learning to share and be “gentle” to Brennan.  He is learning that there is enough love to go around!  Kate fussed twice today when she had to be on a time out- but only for a few minutes.  She really is understanding that no means no.  She is a smart little girl!  I hope they’ll develop a close relationship but think that for only being together for almost a week, they are doing fine! 

We were all asleep by 8:00 PM and I slept solid until 4:00 AM- the kids woke up at 5:30 AM.  Wish we could stay awake longer at night so we’d sleep in… but we’re making it work!  Today is Tuesday and at 3:00 PM it will be our one week anniversary of getting Kate!  What a fun week it has been!
