About Katelyn

Our sweet Katelyn Faith was born on February 11, 2007. We first saw her precious picture on March 7, 2011, and knew she was meant to be part of our family.  Kate lived in an orphanage in the Guangdong province. She had achilles tendon surgery on both feet in China when she was a year and a half old. We thought she had club feet and I had researched a lot on the different options for treatment.  Once we brought her home and took her to a few specialists and had an MRI done we found out she has mild cerebral palsy.  I'm now busy researching CP and she has started occupational and physical therapy.  She has grown so much stronger already and doesn't fall nearly as much as she did when we met her!  She is amazing!

Her nannies at the orphanage said she had a quiet personality, liked to attach to people, was shy in front of strangers, and was smart. They did a wonderful job preparing her for her new family!  We appreciate the care and love they showed her until we could finally get her in our arms on June 7, 2011.  They knew her well because she is so smart, loving, funny, and sweet!  She has adapted very well to our family, although it took her until the end of September to truly  "settle in".

Kate loves french fries, string cheese, taking and looking at pictures, Hello Kitty, princesses, Barney, doing "homework", seeing Caitlyn and Karen (PT and OT people), going to Sunday School, Ms. Julie and her classmates at school, and talking on the phone.  She has learned English so amazingly fast and has a really fun sense of humor!

Life with Kate is exciting as she learns so much and works so hard!  She has to wear braces on both legs and never complains.  She has the loudest scream when she's excited but can be just as loud when she's mad. We'll never have to worry about her being bullied because this little one will let you know that she doesn't like it!  This precious girl is so filled with love too.  She is so sweet and happy at times it truly brings tears to my eyes!  We feel so lucky that she was taken care of so well in China and think she may have been one of their favorites.

We pray for her biological parents because we can only imagine how hard it was to give her up when she was a year and a half old.  We hope somehow they know and believe that she is in a loving family and being well cared for!  We thank God for blessing us with this special little girl.
We were so happy and lucky to have a short video of our sweet girl before we brought her home  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXYb2aUwtZE
