Driving and Aurora, Illinois June 28th, 29th, 30th

We left on Tuesday at 6:20 AM.  Our first destination was a catfish farm in Hendersonville, NC.  We arrived by noon after stopping for a delicious breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Charlotte.  We were very close but couldn't find the entrance to the fishing place so we pulled over to call and found out they were closed on Tuesdays!  Brennan was sooo sad. He had been awake at 5:00 AM because he was so excited about his day fishing for catfish.  It broke my heart to see him so sad!  We made the best of it and spent the remainder of the day looking for good fishing spots.  We found a few and he was happy to catch a few fish in Tennessee!  We drove a few hours towards Chicago and stopped for the night in Kentucky (seven hours from our second planned destination of Aurora, IL).

Brennan, my expert traveler, did great in the car and was so helpful with Kate.  She did very well for her first long car trip!  We stopped often and had fun.  It was nice to be so relaxed and carefree!

Both kids slept in Wednesday so we didn't get on the road again until about 10:30 AM.  We arrived at my best high school friend's house around 5:00 PM!  Kate was REALLY tired of being in a car around 3:30 PM- thank goodness Brennan decided to play with her for the last hour and a half.  The two of them screamed and squealed in the back seat and Brennan even commented, "It's kind of fun having a sister!"  He was so patient with her and such a great help to me!  I really couldn't have driven 16 hours without his help!

We had a great time at Leah's!  She has three boys and so once we arrived I hardly saw Brennan again.  He was off and playing the entire time!  He even learned to ride a two wheel bicycle with the boys help!  Leah and I had a great time catching up again and Kate LOVED Leah!  She snuggled with her a lot!
